January 13, 2019: Guy Davis

Guy Davis Guy Davis is back to perform the music of the great blues masters, African American stories, and his own original songs and stories. He's an accomplished musician, composer, actor, director, and writer. But most importantly, Guy Davis is a bluesman. His music can be soulful or playful and bouncy as a hay-ride. He has appeared on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and on nationally syndicated radio programs such as Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion." Whether performing in front of 15,000 people at major festivals, or teaching at intimate gatherings of students at music camps, Guy gives everything he's got.

His eight albums have landed on top lists around the country. He has been nominated for nine Handy Awards, including for "Best Traditional Blues Album," "Best Blues Song," and "Best Acoustic Blues Artist" two times. His album "Legacy" was picked as one of the Best CDs of the Year by National Public Radio (NPR). The list goes on. Most recently Guy had the honor of appearing in the PBS special on the late Jazz and Blues artist Howard Armstrong. And he was an honored guest at the Kennedy Center Awards alongside other recipients like Warren Beatty, Elton John, and composer John Williams. Two paragraphs cannot begin to do justice to Guy Davis. You'll just have to come and find out for yourself.
