October 7, 2018: Archie Fisher and Garnet Rogers

Archie Fisher Legendary Glasgow-born singer, songwriter and guitarist Archie Fisher is known as Scotland's foremost troubadour. His rich baritone voice, masterfulGarnet Rogers delivery and intricate fingerpicking have earned him a place in the Scots Traditional Music Hall of Fame as well as a coveted MBE award from Queen Elizabeth, and have brought decades of delight to his many fans across the globe. A musically rich family background yielded three career singers: Archie and his sisters Ray and Cilla. Varied parental influences from vaudeville and skiffle to Hebridean Gaelic traditions created an unrivalled depth in his singing style, while political activism led him to match poetic lyricism with meaningful and heartfelt messages. Long familiar with radio, television and studio production, Archie has always kept busy with top-rated projects, from the BBC's Hootenanny and Travelling Folk programs to his latest CD, "Windward Away".
Garnet Rogers is  "one of the major talents of our time." -Boston Globe. In a long professional career begun in early childhood, Canadian singer-songwriter Garnet Rogers has established himself as one of the most influential performers in North America. Hailed by the Globe as a "charismatic performer and singer", his commanding physical presence, "smooth, dark baritone" (Washington Post), remarkable range and thoughtful, dramatic phrasing combine to make him one of the finest singers anywhere. His music is literate, passionate, sensitive, and deeply purposeful; his songs "give expression to the unspoken vocabulary of the heart" (Kitchener Waterloo Record). A dedicated optimist, Garnet sings about hidden heroes and hails the small victories of the everyday. As memorable as his songs, his quick wit and over-the-top humor can move audiences from tears to laughter and back again. We are delighted to have them both back for their first performance here together. Come early for a good seat!
